Spacious Home Renovation
Wayland, MA
When our clients, a busy family of five with school-aged children, purchased their Wayland home, they saw a spacious floor plan full of potential. Our challenge in this renovation was to modernize the design, create a more family-friendly layout, and devise a first-floor configuration more suited for their love of entertaining. This Design-Build-Interiors project included a reimagining of the entire first floor, an upstairs loft, primary bedroom, and a basement bathroom.
The result showcases understated elegance and practical design, incorporating light woods, brass fixtures, and soft colors with contrasting crisp black and white accents. The overall design unifies light washed wood floors, custom cabinetry, unique design features, and whimsical touches.
The transformation turned the previous formal living room into a harmonious combination of social and individual space that provides configuration flexibility when needed for entertaining. The kitchen underwent a major transformation. Previously in a U-shape configuration with a little-used butler’s pantry, we expanded and created a large custom island that comfortably seats six. Transitioning from the kitchen and dining areas, a custom wet bar allows for a flow of guests to mingle throughout the first floor. To meet the needs of their family, we also created a large mudroom with separate cubbies for each child with roomy boot drawers.
Our clients are delighted with their home's new look and functionality. It provides a daily sense of sanctuary while perfectly accommodating their busy lives and love for hosting.
