Multipurpose Style in Cambridge’s Harvard Square
The complete renovation of this condo in Harvard Square, Cambridge was designed and built with the intention of multipurpose functionality. Our clients envisioned a space that could be flexible for their own daily use while expanding to accommodate their nearby grown children and grandchildren.
The traditional kitchen island was designed to save space by housing a semi-formal table when the couple was not entertaining, transforming to provide seating for 3-8 and more flexibility in the center of this open concept floor plan.
The living room was enhanced with dramatic floor-to-ceiling slate tile surrounding a modern fireplace, creating a cozy spot to curl up with a good book.
The primary bedroom was redesigned to include a walk-in closet, complemented by a natural (Alder) wood cabinet door that balances the cool tones of the upholstery and tile. The secondary bedroom provides multifunctional space for a home office that easily transforms into a guest bedroom by way of a Murphy bed installation with built-in storage closets.
