Our Design-Build process is creative, structured, and transparent. We provide you with firm costs and schedules before construction begins so you can focus on the excitement of the build.
Here’s what to expect, every step of the way!
I. In-Home Consultation
Our first step is to meet with you and discuss your ideas for transforming your home. We listen closely to understand your vision for your new space. What’s on the top of your wish list? What do you most want to change (or keep)? This is also your opportunity to learn about our process and discuss potential timelines and budget ranges. With a better understanding of your scope, we will present you with an agreement to engage us in our professional design service, as outlined below.
II. Conceptual Design
We capture your ideas and elevate them, pushing you just a bit beyond your comfort zone to provide you with a design that looks and feels better than you could’ve ever imagined for your home. We’ll present you with alternatives and show you a range of styles, configurations, and features so you can compare and contrast different approaches and budgets. Your vision, married with our deep industry knowledge and creativity.
III. Design Development
During the Design Development Phase, we meet to finalize your design decisions, select all features and materials, and establish firm pricing. Meticulous, advanced planning keeps construction on schedule and budget. Attention to detail, transparency, and clear communication are the hallmarks of every Lee Kimball project.
IV. Construction Agreement
Our comprehensive agreement will include all expectations, deliverables, expenses, timetables, and responsibilities spelled out from start to finish so you’re never left second-guessing or relying on chance. It might seem obsessive, but we know it’s the details that matter. When you sign off on your construction agreement, we move from the design to the build phase of your project.
V. Pre-Construction Phase
Our Construction process starts with a thorough Pre-Construction phase. You’ll meet your construction team and review the schedule and detailed plans. We’ll address logistics, concerns, and set up a convenient time for regularly occurring meetings throughout construction. You’ll also have access to our online client portal, where you can find all pertinent information, including progress pictures and a live updated schedule.
VI. Construction
Once construction gets underway, we’ll stay in close communication with you, including regular site meetings and frequent updates. We make sure to review progress with you at key milestones like demolition, rough electrical and plumbing, tilework, and cabinetry installation. While construction can be disruptive, we do everything in our power to take care of your home as if it were our own.
VII. Completion & Celebration
The work is done, and it’s time to enjoy your new home. Work finishes on time, on budget, and with an end-of-job celebration. We’ll continue to follow up with you yearly and hear about all the joy your home is inspiring for you!
